US healthcare fiasco

As I watch the U.S. healthcare fiasco unfold, I can't help but shake my head with disgust.  Doesn't the U.S. Constitution proclaim "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness"?  Commonsense and logic argue then that "life" should include healthcare.  The pursuit of well-being is not a privilege.  It is a right.  If we don't have our health, then we have nothing.

If government exists to protect us, then why is the government stripping away rules and regulations designed to protect us?
